Trayectoria

After two seasons with the Sky VR46 Junior Team in the FIM CEV Repsol Moto3™ Junior World Championship, Celestino Vietti made his full-time debut in 2019 with SKY Racing Team VR46. Vietti has been part of the VR46 Riders Academy since 2015, scored solid points in the CEV in 2017 and then had his best season in the series as he took his first podium in 2018. The latter part of 2018 also saw Vietti get the call up to race in Moto3™ as a replacement for the injured Nicolo Bulega and the Italian debutant impressed in his first race to take points in Motegi – and then promptly took an incredible first podium finish next time out. 2019 saw his stock continue to rise, as podiums in the Spanish, Catalan and Japanese GPs helped him secure the Rookie of the Year title in the lightweight category, while 2020 saw him earn his maiden Grand Prix victory after an impressive performance in the Styria GP, another win was to follow in Le Mans but his title tilt fell just short as his failure to step on the rostrum again saw him finish fifth overall. 2021 saw him continue in the VR46 Academy, but this time in the intermediate class. In a year where rookies dominated headlines, Vietti went under the radar for the most part before showing his quality at the end of the year with three straight top six finishes. The Italian carried that form over into the 2022 campaign, taking two wins and two podiums in the opening five races, before another win at the Catalan GP had him among the lead contenders for the title. However, Vietti’s second half of the season was plagued by inconsistencies and he racked up numerous DNFs as his challenge faded. 2023 brings a sense of renewed hope as he begins the season with the newly formed Fantic Motor as one of the Championship favourites.
