ライダーストーリー

Dennis Foggia started riding a motorcycle at the age of seven before making his racing debut one year later in 2008. He finished as runner-up in the Italian Minimoto Championship in 2011 before repeating the result in 2012, this time on more powerful Mini GP 50 machinery. In 2013, he was crowned as the 80cc Spanish Champion. Fast-forward three years and Foggia made his debut in the Moto3™ Junior World Championship as part of the Junior Team VR46 Riders Academy after being picked up by Rossi’s Academy whilst competing in the CIV. He obtained strong results in his debut year including several points finishes and two podiums, making it apparent that Foggia would be a serious challenger in 2017. The 16-year-old excelled, taking four wins and five podiums to be crowned as the Moto3™ Junior World Champion at the penultimate round in Aragon. Foggia also made two wildcard appearances in the World Championship, finishing ahead of both full-time VR46 Academy riders on both occasions. In 2018, Foggia graduated to Sky Racing Team VR46 in the Moto3™ World Championship, taking some good top ten results and his first podium in Thailand. He stayed with the team in 2019 and it brought another podium finish. 2020 saw him make the move to Leopard Racing and he repaid their faith with a win in the Czech GP following a patchy start to the season. Further podiums followed in Catalunya and Portimao in a season where he gained a reputation as a yo-yo rider, mixing the great with the poor. The Italian’s inconsistent results continued throughout the opening round, mixing a podium in Portimao with two DNFs and two non-points finishes before securing his second ever lightweight class win. However, as the season progressed, the number 7 became a podium regular and a further four race wins saw him launch a serious title challenge, but a last lap wipe out at the Algarve GP meant rookie sensation Pedro Acosta became the 2021 lightweight class World Champion. Having, somewhat surprisingly, signed on for another season in Moto3™ and Leopard Racing, he claimed four wins and third in the Championship before signing up with Italtrans Racing in Moto2™ for 2023.
