Two in a row: Ducati make history after the Thai GP

We still don't know who will take the 2023 Riders' Championship, but we do know that it will be a Ducati rider

In Buriram on Saturday afternoon, an understated yet pivotal moment occurred. Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) clinched second place in the Tissot Sprint, while Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team) secured a seventh-place finish, mathematically eliminating the South African from the MotoGP™ title race. Despite appearing trivial on the surface, this outcome marks a significant milestone for Ducati, claiming their second consecutive rider title for the first time in their history. With only three races left in what has been another exceptional 2023 campaign, the dream of claiming the world championship remains alive solely for Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovo Team), Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing), and Marco Bezzecchi (Mooney VR46 Racing Team).

Given how things have gone this season, it's hardly surprising to see the Borgo Panigale brand clinching its fourth consecutive Constructors' title (fifth overall). Notably, Pecco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin, and Marco Bezzecchi have collectively won 13 out of 17 Grand Prix races held thus far. Additionally, Johann Zarco's victory (Prima Pramac Racing) at the Australian GP brought Ducati's total wins to 14. The Italian manufacturer's presence on every podium and front row since the inaugural race underscores their consistent and indisputable dominance, rightfully earning them the constructors' title after the Tissot Sprint at the Indonesian GP.

Regarding the management of this three-way battle for the World Championship among their riders, Ducati Corse's General Manager, Gigi Dall'Igna, remained composed, referring to it as a "fight among brothers":

"We will give all of our riders the best information to do their best. We will try to give them the best possible bike to fight; that's our job, and this is what we have to do in the last three races."

Paolo Ciabatti, the brand's Sporting Director, echoed similar sentiments, stating, "This is the first time Ducati has won two consecutive rider titles. Who will be the rider? I think we will find out in Valencia; it will be the best way to end this spectacular MotoGP™ season."

There's no bias or rivalry within Ducati; instead, eager anticipation to crown the MotoGP™ 2023 World Champion from among Pecco Bagnaia, Jorge Martin, and Marco Bezzecchi. This shared anticipation continues as the suspense unfolds towards the season's climax!
