Martin passes Bagnaia in GP doubles, Binder breaks South African record

After a truly outstanding Thai GP, the Championship fight is very much on with just three rounds remaining. Before we roll into Malaysia, let's take a look at some of the best stats to have come from Buriram!

0.253 – With 0.253s between Jorge Martin (Prima Pramac Racing) and Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati Lenovoo Team), who crossed the line in P3 before being promoted to P2, this is the fourth-closest podium margin of all-time in a full-length premier class race. The only closer podiums were Phillip Island 1999 (0.124s between Tadayuki Okada, Max Biaggi and Régis Laconi), Estoril 2006 (0.176s between (Toni Elias, Valentino Rossi and Kenny Roberts Jr) and Phillip Island 2022 (0.224s between Alex Rins, Marc Marquez and Francesco Bagnaia).

4 – Martin did the double at the Thai GP, taking both the Tissot Sprint and GP victories for the fourth time – along with the German, San Marino and Japanese GPs earlier this year. He is now the rider with most doubles ahead of Bagnaia (3).

5 – Martin took his fifth MotoGP™️ win, all with Ducati. He is now fifth on the list of the most successful riders in MotoGP™️ with Ducati, with two wins less than Loris Capirossi.

6 – This is Ducati’s sixth win in six successive MotoGP™️ races, equalling their personal record set last year from the Dutch TT to the Japanese GP.

9 – Brad Binder (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) was classified third at the Thai GP for his ninth MotoGP™️ podium, becoming the South African rider with the most premier class podiums ahead of Paddy Driver (8).

10 – With Martin and Bagnaia, this is the 10th Ducati 1-2 race classification so far this season.

13 – Bagnaia now leads the MotoGP™️ World Championship with a 13-point advantage, with three Grands Prix remaining and 111 points up for grabs.

14 – The win for Martin is the 14th for Ducati so far this season, extending the Bologna factory’s personal record for a single MotoGP™️ season set in Australia.

15.093 – Raul Fernandez (CryptoDATA RNF MotoGP™ Team) finished 15th just 15.093s behind winner Martin, equalling the second-closest top 15 of all-time in a full-length premier class race from Qatar 2019. Only Doha 2021 was closer (8.928s).

35 – This is Ducati’s 35th podium so far this season, extending the personal record for the Bologna factory in a single MotoGP™️ season set in Australia.

43 – With Martin winning the race ahead of Bagnaia and Brad Binder, Ducati is on a streak of 43 MotoGP™️ Grand Prix races in a row with at least one rider on the podium.
